Everything is energy.
Have you ever wondered why time spent in nature helps calm the mind and relax the body? Breathing in fresh air, listening to sounds of nature, and absorbing warmth from the sun, give an instant boost to your overall wellbeing.
The earth’s atmosphere contains electromagnetic waves that resonate at low frequencies, measurable between 3-60 Hz. These Schumann Resonances, named after German physicist W.O. Schumann, were established by measuring global electromagnetic resonances generated by lightening. The primary frequency is 7.8 Hz. The frequency of these waves fluctuate with solar and geomagnetic activity.
Theta brain waves in humans, observed in REM sleep and meditation, are also measured between 4-8 Hz. We spend most of our waking hours in a state of beta brain waves, between 13-32 Hz. Prolonged mid to high beta brain waves are associated with stress, anxiety and physical ailments.
Just as the name suggests, these waves resonate with other waves. As we spend time outside, away from buildings, cars and electronic devices we are able to change the frequency of our brain waves from stressed-out high beta to meditative, restorative theta.
While you’re establishing your new habits of feeling grateful, breathing deeply with control and sitting in meditation, take it outside. Sit on the ground if you can. Walk barefoot whenever possible. Put your hands on your heart, and look up at the clouds or the moon. Get out of your head and into your heart. Lower the hyperactive, super alert brain waves of beta as often as you can using the earth’s resonance as your tuning fork.
Affirmation: I love and respect myself. I love and respect the earth as a necessary part of my healing. When I slow down my active mind, my body has time to heal.
